Renewed Strength

This sermon draws from Isaiah 40 to proclaim that true renewal of strength is found not in human effort or temporary escapes, but in patiently waiting on the Lord, who is the everlasting, unwearying God. It identifies two kinds of weariness—natural fatigue from good labor and deeper, hopelessness born of feeling trapped by human limitations—and contrasts them with the divine source of strength, whose infinite power and personal compassion are revealed in Christ's incarnation, suffering, and victory over death. The result of trusting in this limitless God is not mere endurance, but empowered resilience: the ability to 'mount up with wings like eagles,' to run without growing weary, and to walk without fainting, even in the midst of life's trials. The message calls believers to fix their hope not on self-reliance or fleeting solutions, but on the faithful, sacrificial love of Jesus, whose example and triumph sustain us through every season of exhaustion and despair. At this moment, we might be asking ourselves, "will this really last?" Will this be another manufactured spiritual experience that is fleeting? Or will the Renewal Initiative truly spark a renewed devotion to knowing Christ, loving one another, and serving our neighbors at Grace & Peace?

In this sermon, we explore what it means to walk in renewed obedience to God. Even when we've drifted, delayed, or grown spiritually dull, the Lord is faithful to call His people back. This message is a reminder that obedience isn't about perfection — it's about surrender, repentance, and returning to the voice of God with a willing heart. 📖 Be encouraged, challenged, and renewed as we learn what it looks like to obey God again.

Renewed Faith

We pray you have experienced the renewing power of the Holy Spirit through our renewal initiative sermon series. The positive feedback we received from you has overwhelmed us! The devotionals, small group questions and exercises seem to have really resonated with everyone and helped them internalize the messages. As we pass the halfway point of our Renewal Initiative sermon series, let me encourage you to continue to lean into the process. We know money is a challenging topic. But, Jesus talked about money more often than heaven, hell, and sex, so that must mean that gaining a proper view of money is VITAL to our spiritual growth. Rest your weight on Jesus, allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you through God's word, and take steps of faith towards growing in generosity. Feel free to reach out to our staff and elders if you have any questions throughout the process!

Today we are starting our Renewal Initiative series where we are focusing on our "Renewed Home for Renewed Hearts" The sermon, drawn from Titus 3:3–8, presents a transformative vision of the Christian life rooted in God's mercy rather than human effort, emphasizing that true renewal begins with divine regeneration and is sustained by the Holy Spirit's work. It calls believers to a holistic faith that is remade by God's grace, motivated by His mercy rather than materialism, and marked by intentional, Christ-centered good works that benefit others. The passage underscores that salvation is entirely God's gift—not earned by righteousness but received through mercy, regeneration, and justification by grace—enabling believers to become heirs of eternal life and active participants in God's redemptive mission. The preacher applies this vision to personal and communal life, urging a shift from performance-based spirituality to a posture of gratitude and service, illustrated through the metaphor of puzzle-building and the story of Jean Valjean, and culminates in a call to prayer and spiritual renewal as the foundation for a renewed church and city.

Three Fearful Beggars in the Presence of Christ

In Mark 5:1–20, Jesus confronts evil, restores a demon-possessed man, and confronts the fear that shapes human responses to His presence. The passage reveals three distinct reactions: the legion of demons, fearing destruction, begs to be cast into pigs rather than face Christ's judgment; the townspeople, fearing disruption to their comfortable lives, beg Jesus to depart; and the healed man, transformed by grace, responds with devotion, begging to follow Jesus. The sermon emphasizes that true faith arises not from fear of punishment or disruption, but from a deep, personal recognition of one's need and Christ's saving power, leading to a life of discipleship. Though Jesus sends the man away to proclaim His mercy, He remains present through the witness of the transformed, affirming that those who fear God devotionally are never abandoned, for Christ is with them always. The central message is clear: because Jesus has triumphed over evil, we must respond not with avoidance, but as fearful beggars, longing to be discipled and transformed by His grace.

Redeemer

The sermon centers on Jesus as Redeemer, drawing from Isaiah's desperate cry for divine rescue from sin, suffering, and spiritual exile, and revealing how Christ fulfills this longing through His incarnation, perfect life, sacrificial death, and resurrection. It emphasizes that redemption is not merely a theological concept but a personal cry for mercy in the midst of brokenness, illustrated through the imagery of Isaiah's lament, the story of Ruth and Boaz, and the parable of the tax collector who humbly pleads for grace. The message underscores that Jesus, as the ultimate Kinsman Redeemer, bore the full weight of God's wrath on the cross, satisfying divine justice and making forgiveness possible, so that believers—though unclean and powerless—can be made righteous and restored. The sermon calls listeners to spiritual inventory, rejecting self-righteousness in favor of honest confession, and affirms that in Christ, suffering is not a sign of abandonment but a context where God's presence, mercy, and love are most profoundly known. Ultimately, the name of Jesus becomes a refuge and a source of joy, transforming despair into hope and empowering believers to cry out in faith, knowing they are heard and redeemed.

Worship Info for December 21, 2025 Text: Isaiah 9:1-7 Title: Prince of Peace The sermon centers on Jesus as the Prince of Peace, drawing from Isaiah 9:6–7 to reveal that His name embodies a divine, eternal peace—shalom—far exceeding mere absence of conflict and instead signifying wholeness, cosmic integration, and reconciliation with God. It emphasizes that this peace is not achieved through human effort, self-improvement, or societal reform, but is a gift received through surrender to Christ, who alone fulfills the longing for spiritual wholeness that manifests in addiction, anxiety, and relational brokenness. The sermon traces Christ's ministry, death, and resurrection as the ultimate act of establishing peace by overcoming darkness, reconciling all things to God, and inaugurating a kingdom ruled by justice and righteousness. It calls believers to live out this peace through humility, surrender, and gospel-centered relationships, transforming personal, familial, and communal life, and urges the church to become a living embodiment of shalom by extending grace, forgiveness, and love in a broken world.

The sermon centers on the title 'Everlasting Father' ascribed to the Messiah in Isaiah 9, revealing Christ as the eternal, transcendent God who enters time as a vulnerable infant to reveal the nature of the Father and restore humanity to divine sonship. Through His incarnation, perfect obedience, and sacrificial death, Jesus, the eternal Son, becomes the Father of eternity—both the originator of time and the one who grants believers the right to become children of God through faith. The passage emphasizes that Christ's humility, suffering, and resurrection fulfill God's eternal plan, enabling believers to experience the Spirit of adoption, inherit an unshakable spiritual legacy, and live in confident hope, knowing they are securely held by an everlasting Father. This truth calls the church to worship with intimacy, serve with humility, and pursue reconciliation, reflecting the Father's character in a broken world, while trusting in the enduring promise of eternal life.

Mighty God

The sermon explored how Jesus, as Mighty God, demonstrates His power through weakness rather than worldly strength. From Gideon's victory at Midian with just 300 men, to Jesus' ultimate triumph through the cross, we see a consistent pattern: God's mighty power wins through man's weakness. This has profound implications for our spiritual lives - we don't need to project strength or have it all together. Instead, God invites us to boast in our weaknesses so that His power can rest upon us. When we say, "I can't, but God can," we position ourselves to experience His mighty power working through our limitations. Takeaways: - Jesus won the ultimate victory through the weakness of the cross, defeating sin, death, and evil not by avoiding suffering but by embracing it in obedience to the Father's will. - God wins through our weakness when we share the gospel in word and deed, trusting that our simple acts of faithfulness carry divine power, just as Little Bird's final song transformed his executioner. - Confessing our weaknesses and addictions rather than hiding them opens the door for God's power to work in our lives - whether it's putting down our phones, admitting our need for help, or saying "yes" when others help. This Advent season, I encourage you to identify one area of weakness in your life and instead of trying harder in your own strength, boast in that weakness before God. Watch how His mighty power shows up in unexpected ways.

The Freedom of the Lord

This Sunday we are going to study the topic of Christian freedom. We like freedom, don't we? We live in a country that was founded in search of religious freedom. We live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Oklahoma was settled by people in search of freedom. Modern society values the freedoms of self- expression, self-determination, self-protection, etc. We love the idea of freedom, but we rarely ask deeper questions about freedom. What is freedom? What are we free FROM? What are we free FOR? Who gives us freedom? What does that freedom actually bring us? Join us as we study the freedom of the Lord from Isaiah 61. We hope you will see that the Christian view of freedom is more good, beautiful and true, than the freedom offered to us by the world.

The sermon centers on Isaiah 55 as a divine invitation to a soul-satisfying fellowship with God, rooted in His profound compassion and grace. It emphasizes that God's mercy is not earned but freely offered through the atoning work of Jesus, the true and greater David, who has paid the price for sin and invites all—especially the broken and weary—to partake in a feast of forgiveness and joy. The passage calls believers to repentance, urging a turning from false idols—such as achievement, relationships, or materialism—that promise fulfillment but deliver only emptiness, and instead to find true satisfaction in Christ alone. Through vivid imagery of the prodigal son and the story of Mephibosheth, the sermon illustrates God's relentless kindness and the abundant pardon available to all who return to Him, resulting in a life marked by peace, joy, and the overflow of spiritual fruit. Ultimately, the message is a call to daily faith in Christ, the living water and bread of life, whose grace transforms hearts and draws others to the Father's table.

This sermon presents Isaiah 52:13–53 as a profound prophetic portrait of the Messiah, emphasizing His humility, perfection, suffering, and ultimate victory. It reveals Christ as the suffering servant—despised and rejected, yet sinless and divine—whose vicarious death bore the sins of humanity, fulfilling God's eternal plan. The passage underscores the substitutionary nature of His sacrifice, where His wounds bring spiritual healing, His silence in trial reflects His obedience, and His resurrection and exaltation signify triumph over death, sin, and evil. The sermon highlights how Christ's incarnation, suffering, and intercession provide comfort, redemption, and assurance for believers, transforming their pain into hope through the great exchange of sin for righteousness. Ultimately, it calls all to bow in worship, trusting in Christ's finished work as the foundation of faith, identity, and eternal security.

Isaiah 42:8-20 | Fee Kennedy No one ever wants to feel abandoned. It is one of the most scary and hopeless experiences we face in life. We can feel abandoned by family, institutions, friends, business partners, and the list goes on. Worst of all, we can even feel abandoned by God. What do we do when the fear of abandonment overwhelms us? In Isaiah 41, God speaks through the prophet to tell the people of Israel about the exile that is coming their way. In those days, they will be confronted with the fear of abandonment. God speaks directly to those fears by offering them an unbreakable promise of His gracious and redeeming presence. Join us on Sunday to hear the good news of God's presence in the morning and share God's presence with our neighbors in the afternoon at the Fall Festival! Invite a friend who might be feeling abandoned and looking for hope. We have lots of hope to share!

A Glorious Homecoming

Isaiah 35:1-10 The sermon, drawn from Isaiah 35, presents a profound vision of divine homecoming—a future where God's people return to Him in joy, marked by a renewed creation, restored bodies and souls, and a repaired, holy path to reconciliation. It emphasizes that this promise, rooted in God's redemptive plan long before Christ's arrival, finds its fulfillment in Jesus, who bears judgment to heal sin, restore the broken, and open the way to God through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and resurrection. The preacher underscores that believers today, though still in exile, are called to steward creation, trust in Christ's present spiritual healing, and walk confidently on the 'way of holiness' that only He provides, knowing that ultimate restoration—physical, emotional, and eternal—awaits. Through personal testimony and biblical reflection, the message calls all to repent, come to Jesus, and live in hope of a future where sorrow flees and everlasting joy is fully realized.

There are few words that we use more often in the church than the word "gospel." Unfortunately, when we use a word with such frequency its precise meaning can become obscured. If you were asked, "What is the gospel?" how would you respond? At Grace & Peace, one of our core values is to be a gospel-centered ministry. This Sunday, we will explore what the gospel is and what it means to be centered on the gospel in all that we do as a church. Pray that God would prepare your heart to receive His truth with faith and love to produce joy and righteousness in your life. Invite a friend to join you as well!

This week we are going to start a three-part sermon series called "How should we then live?" The title comes from Frances Schaeffer's book and video series. He highlights the importance of understanding biblical truth and living consistently with that truth. This week, we will focus on building a life-changing community.

What is your purpose? This is a question we all ask at some point in our lives and—whether we know it or not—each day we live according to our answer. Our purpose defines the course of our lives, informs our major decisions, and provides the framework for our sense of fulfillment. The problem is that the answer to the question of our purpose is more elusive now than ever. Why do we struggle to find purpose? What are the enemies of purpose in our world today?

As our summer comes to a close, so does our study of the book of Acts. In this week's passage, we will read a travel narrative that describes Paul's travels from Ephesus to Jerusalem, concluding his third missionary journey. This short section is packed with intriguing, and somewhat confusing questions about the Holy Spirit, prophecy, and the providence of God. But in the end, you will see a very simple, clear, and powerful message for the church today. We need gospel teamwork to make the gospel dream work. Please join us as we consider this interesting topic, and invite friends and family that might be interested.

The Danger Of Falling Asleep

As we continue our series in the book of Acts this week, we will witness an incredible sequence of events involving both tragedy and God's miraculous power, followed by Paul's farewell address to the Ephesian elders. Our passage opens with a memorable scene: Paul preaching until midnight, and a young man falling asleep and tumbling three stories to his death. Yet even this tragedy becomes a testament to God's power as Paul raises the young man back to life. Following this miracle, we read Paul's passionate charge to the Ephesian elders. Knowing he won't see them again, he entrusts them with the sacred responsibility of shepherding God's flock. His message is clear: stay alert, watch for wolves, finish the race, and remain steadfast in the Word. As you prepare your hearts for worship this Sunday, there are several questions I want you to consider: In what areas of your spiritual life might you be "falling asleep" and how can you cultivate greater alertness to God's Word and work in your life? How does Paul's example of faithful ministry challenge you to examine your own Christian walk? What "wolves" do you need to be more vigilant about in your own life and in protecting those God has placed in your care?

Solving the Riddle of Life

In many ways, life is like a riddle. We are born into a world that leaves us searching for answers about meaning, purpose, and happiness. We all have experiences and intuitions that tell us we were made for something more, but we often feel like we're wandering in the dark. How do we find answers to the ultimate questions of life? Acts 17 takes us on a journey into the heart of life's deepest questions. As Paul engages with the philosophers in Athens, he shows us how the gospel provides the only true answer to the riddle of life. Along the way, we learn how to share the hope of the gospel with the skeptical and suspicious.

God's Leading, Our Expectations

This week, we'll explore key stories of individuals who have shaped the Church—both in history and still today. We begin with Paul's second missionary journey in Acts, where people encounter God in unexpected ways. We see the fulfillment of promises made long ago, the fruition of Jesus' words reaching the ends of the earth, and the unstoppable ways in which God accomplishes His purposes. Through God's leading, we see—just as in their stories—that the story of Jesus continues in the lives of those who believe. As we read through Paul's journeys, consider these questions: What expectations should we have of God and of this life following Jesus? How is God working in me—right where I am, and in the places He is sending me?

True Unity In Diversity

How do you feel when you hear the words "conflict," "disagreement," and "debate"? Probably not too excited! The Acts of the Apostles, however, shows us how conflict and debate are signs of health in the church when we engage in them in the way Christ intended. Acts displays conflict in a new light and points a way forward for healthy and productive debate in the church. In Acts 15, we see the church facing unprecedented questions and challenges as the gospel continues to spread to new frontiers. As the church grows in number, a new community is taking shape that represents an immense diversity of backgrounds, ethnicities, and experiences. What will hold together this growing movement of diverse Christians as they navigate multiple cultures and beliefs? What will be their anchor as their customs and traditions are challenged in light of God's redemptive acts? How will they work through sharp disagreement and difference while maintaining unity and peace? What will their engagement in healthy conflict proclaim to the watching world? These questions are just as important and prevalent for Grace & Peace today as they were for the church in the very beginning! Come join us this Sunday to discover how only the gospel can provide true unity in diversity.

Have you ever faced or witnessed opposition to the Gospel? As we continue in our study of the Book of Acts, we will read about Paul and Barnabas' first missionary journey, and see that they experienced a fury of opposition and persecution for sharing the Good News of Christ. We will also see that the Spirit enabled them to be bold and resilient, because when the world is against you, it often means God has you right where He wants you. As we ponder God's Word and this story, I want you to ask two questions: How is the Spirit at work even in times of opposition? How should we respond to these challenges if and when we face them? Pray this week that the Lord would show you how you are to be a part of God's mission "to the ends of the earth" right here in Tulsa, and pray that His Spirit would empower you to face opposition with boldness, and not bitterness.

Pop quiz: Who's the main character in Acts - Peter, Paul, or the Church? Answer: None of them. It's the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit so dominates the book that some theologians have suggested that we call it Acts of the Holy Spirit, not Acts of the Apostles. It is the Holy Spirit who works in and through the Church to take the gospel to the ends of the Earth; the same Holy Spirit who is STILL at work in the Church today (although it might look a little different, okay sometimes a lot different, than it did back then). As we study this book, let us never lose sight of the fact that we are learning how to take the gospel to the ends of the earth through the power of the Spirit!

Last week we started a new sermon series called To the Ends of the Earth. It's a study of Acts 9-28. There Luke records the apostles bearing witness to the words and deeds of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit to the ends of the Earth. God began this work two thousand years ago, and he is continuing this work today! We live in the next chapter of this story, Acts 29 if you will! As we study these scriptures, I want us to answer this question together: How can we bear witness to the words and deeds of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit today? We believe that the answer to this question will help us fulfill our purpose as a church and as individuals, and invite you to join us in God's journey to the ends of the earth.

Encountering Jesus: Dead Wrong Made Right

What is your purpose? What is my purpose? How do I find my purpose? What is the purpose of the Church, including Grace & Peace? These are common questions we all ask, because we were created to live for a purpose. Without purpose, we lose meaning, direction, and hope. Thankfully, the Bible gives us many powerful answers to these important questions! One of the best places to find answers to those questions is the book of Acts. There we read about God fulfilling His promises and his purposes through the Church. How? Acts 1:8 lays the groundwork, There Jesus says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." The rest of the book of Acts describes how this promise unfolded in the early Church. Chapters 1-8, which we covered two years ago, shows how the Church bore witness to Jesus in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria. Chapters 9-28 show how the Church bore witness to these promises to the ends of the Earth. This Summer we are going to a study of Acts 9-28 called To the Ends of the Earth. During this study, we hope to show you how WE (you, me, Grace & Peace, and the Church Universal) can participate in the ongoing work of God by bearing witness to Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit to the ends of the Earth. By God's grace , we will find our purpose, as individuals and as a Church, in God's greater purpose!

The Sons Are Free

Have you ever been asked to pay for something that you already owned? I think we can agree that this would feel pretty backwards. In our passage this week from Matthew 17:24-27, we encounter Jesus being asked to pay a tax for the very Temple that belonged to Him. The religious leaders wanted Jesus to pay the Temple tax like everyone else, but Jesus knew something that they didn't: sons of the King don't pay tribute to live in the Kingdom. While this can seem like a simple dispute on the surface, it reveals to us a revolutionary truth about who we are in Christ. This week as we prepare our hearts for Sunday, I want you to take a moment and ponder what it means to be God's children, and what it means to trust in God as our Father; as people who are free from the guilt, shame, and condemnation that once held us captive, and sons of God who are free to live as the beloved children who are welcomed into our Father's house.

A Glimpse Into Glory

Have you ever seen a sneak preview of a great movie before it was released? Or tasted a delicious meal before it officially went on the menu? Or listened to an incredible song before the album was live? In each of these moments, you are getting a glimpse of something wonderful that will soon be revealed to the world. The transfiguration of Jesus Christ is the ultimate glimpse-behind-the-curtain moment. In this event, Christ's divine identity and his glorious future as the exalted Redeemer is revealed. As Jesus prepares his disciples for his imminent suffering, he assures them of his promised glory. Why? Because they too will suffer, but their suffering will be transformed in the redemption secured by the Crucified King. Take a moment this week to read Matthew 17:1-13. Make a list of all the ways you are suffering right now. It could be anything: betrayal, financial strain, chronic illness, loss of a loved one, the demise of a long-held dream, the inevitable consequences of your own choices. Reflect upon the difference it would make in your sufferings if you heard God say to you, "You are my beloved child with whom I am well pleased."

Worship Info for February 23, 2025 Text: Ephesians 6:10-24 Title: Standing Firm in Christ C.S. Lewis once wrote the following about human beings: "There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them." Which one of those extremes best describes your own tendency? Ephesians 6:10-24 tells us that all Christians are engaged in a cosmic spiritual conflict. As citizens of God's kingdom we face opposition from the spiritual forces of evil on a daily basis. What is the true nature of that opposition? How can we be equipped to face this spiritual conflict? And how does Christ give us ultimate victory in this cosmic battle?

This week, Pastor Shane will continue with us in our study of Ephesians and teach us about God's design for marriage. We will see what mutual submission for mutual edification means and how living together in this way blesses us and honors God. Whether single, married, divorced or widowed, this passage of Scripture has life and growth for each of us as we ponder Jesus' love for us as His bride.

This week as we continue our study of Ephesians, Pastor Shane will discuss what it means to turn away from our past life of death and darkness and walk in God's light. As we live out obedience that flows from our changed nature, the Holy Spirit works in us to bear fruit and illuminate the world around us. Pray with us this week that He would be working in our midst to transform our lives with radical obedience and shine His light in us to the lost in our city.

When someone asks you who you are, what do you say? Do you identify yourself by your profession or your stage of life? Do you talk about what you do? Maybe you identify with certain character traits or things you're passionate about? Would other people identify you by the same things? Or would they say something else? As we start a brand new year, let's consider our identity and who God says we are. Let's look at how He has formed us and called us. And let's consider the footsteps of Jesus as we step out into 2025.
